This is the story about a dolls house called Tandanya. I purchased this house about 5 years ago from the original owner who commissioned Phillip Brown to build it for her. This house was designed after a house that resided in Hunters Hill of Sydney which unfortunately has now been knocked down.
This house originally went to my shop to live as I had a big roller door that could allow easy delivery of it. There she sat for almost 14months before I moved my shop to its new location and I decided that I really wanted her to go to my home. While I loved showing it off to all the customers, some of them didnt just look with their eyes but their hands too.
So she came home to live BUT she wouldnt fit through the door and had to live on the back porch until I worked out what to do. There she stayed for over a year under lots of blankets and tarporlines.
Until I bit the bullet and commissioned a builder to remove my sliding door and the solid panel next to it so that the house could be wheeled into our family room. This is a picture of our entire window missing so I could wheel her inside...lol
This is the back
Here she is in her corner..
This beautiful house stayed empty for a further three years until today. The day that I said enough was enough and it was high time I furnished her. After all it wasnt like I didnt have any miniatures to put into it.
Today is the day I began to clean and today is the day I begin to write about the journey of what I do and how I do it, to hopefully end up with a house that I will enjoy even more.
So here are some pictures of the first room that I am going to furnish. This is going to be the girls room. There will be two girls, mainly becaue I loved the idea of having single beds either side of the fireplace and about a year ago I made two twin beds with this room in mind. Here is proof that I did indeed make the beds a year ago. I always sign my beds underneath.....who said I worked fast...lol
Now to show you how much dust has accumulated. I can see that the wallpaper has some marks on it over the fireplace. The original owner must have used bluetack to put up pictures. It wont matter because I aim to put a large picture up there to cover the marks.
Out came my cloth and the polish and off to work I went. About an hour later I had this..
Now to put the long awaited beds into this room.
Yes I am really liking this very much now for bed two..
I am so pleased with this. Who would have thought that just the addittion of two beds could get me so inspired...lol
Now I have to decide, do I have two chests of drawers, or a wardrtobe and a dressing table, out comes the camera and pictures taken to see what works best.
Or
I think the drawers are definitely the way to go. Well I have almost finished for the day but to finish off I will have a little play with some toys.
The little bench seat was a workshop that was held at the shop many years ago by Merle and Cathy Mather and I am so pleased that it fits perfectly here, its the right colour too.
I think a nice rug is in order, I will check out which ones will suit the next time I am in the shop. I look forward to seeing you again soon, bye for now.
